The entire journey — prospection, mining, sorting, cutting and distribution — in four stages. From the pegmatite vein in the Erongo Region to the faceted tourmaline at the jeweler.
01
Prospection & Mining
From rock to the pocket
Geological mapping of the pegmatite veins running parallel to the Erongo Mountains. Blasting and drilling — excavators, loaders and compressor-powered drilling machines open the veins according to the size and complexity of the mine. Otjikatjango and Omapyu are our most productive sites.
The rough stones are collected and sorted by color, size and quality — blue, green and pinkish-red separated. Every rough stone is untreated and fully traceable to its claim between Wilhemstal and Omaruru.
The rough stones are cut into wonderful pieces. Experienced cutters in Namibia and overseas bring out color and clarity — every cut chosen to suit the material.
04
Faceted Tourmaline
Light in the stone
At the end stands the faceted stone — indigo, lagoon, royal indigo, rubellite and multicolored. “Gemstones have a beauty unlike anything else because they allow light inside and refract it.”
Distribution
Namibia to Europe & worldwide
Indigo Blue Namibia is a Namibian company with a sister company in Germany. The stones are exported transparently, received in Germany and distributed to jewelers worldwide — all paperwork to standard, verification and certificates on request.
